This webinar will highlight the multidisciplinary research investigating the diverse ways in which viruses, microbes, and the host interact. This is an emerging field of research not only for phage biology, but more broadly incorporates research from systems biology, bioinformatics, microbiome, immunology, clinical microbiology and others. Britt Koskella (UC Berkeley) will address how viruses might shape the host-associated microbiome more broadly and impact host health as a result, Bryan Hsu (Virginia Tech) will talk about the influence of natural and engineered phages on the gut microbiota. Paul Bollyky (Stanford University) will speak on how phage influence the human immune response to commensal and pathogenic bacteria.
