Adding a spatial dimension provides unique and important insights into fundamental questions in biology. The emergence of new cutting-edge techniques, such as high-resolution spectral imaging, lattice light-sheet microscopy, and spatial transcriptomics, allows us to accurately assess the spatial landscape of biological systems at cellular and sub-cellular resolution.
