The IFCC strategic plans include focusing on accreditation of labs based on ISO standards and cooperation with regional accreditation bodies and national accreditation bodies. IFCC and EFLM recognised that ISO 15189 Medical laboratories – Requirements for quality and competence, is precisely describing standard for labs and has been worldwide accepted. The last 4th version was issued in 2022. The IFCC and ILAC have a partnership for many years and an IFCC - ILAC MoU was re-signed last time in 2019. Referring to this cooperation, the aim of the webinar is to share the knowledge on importance of accreditation in medical field around the world as the harmonized implementation of management systems in medical laboratories improve the validity of clinical results, which is essential for patient care. The focus will be on accreditation in reference to ISO 15189: 2022, the new version of which is of interest to many colleagues around the world. The revised ISO 15189 includes requirements for POCT, increases emphasis on risk management and ethical conduct, considers other relevant ISO standards, and should to be less prescriptive and more closely linked to patient care.
