Overview

The use of compounded pharmaceuticals in veterinary practice has long been a topic of debate and conjecture. With patient outcomes being top of mind for practicing veterinarians, Independent Vets of Australia (IVA) has engaged a panel of experts in different sectors of the veterinary industry to shed light on and debunk some of the myths surrounding compounding in the veterinary industry.

Many veterinarians have experienced variances in patient response to compounded medication and Veterinarians have often asked, what guidelines or regulations do compounders have to adhere to? Is there a certain level of quality that has to be produced by a compounding pharmacy? Why do prices vary from compounder to compounder?
