Fibrillated Cellulose (FC) is a 100% natural, biodegradable and sustainable material produced by mechanically processing wood derived cellulose fibres down to their smallest components, resulting in innovative material properties, including excellent stabilizing potential, flow modification and skin hydration.
FC’s unique rheology profile – high viscosity at rest and highly shear thinning – makes it a suitable material for applications in personal care, from easily spreadable creams to sprayable formulations with outstanding stability and hydrating properties.
We will cover how Fibrillated Cellulose is produced and the difference to other conventional celluloses on the market before moving into the most common features Valida will impart to formulations through case studies and commercial examples.
We will explore innovative formulation concepts: stabilizing oil in water without using emulsifier, additive boosting and cost-effective replacement of microplastics. We will finish with some considerations when using FC.
